Dr. Stephen Valenti is the "V" in our previous name of HPV Heart -- and he is also the "Stevie V" in "Stevie V. and The Heart Attackers."
The band is made up of physicians and other medical professionals (including two other Cardiovascular Specialists cardiologists) and plays a variety of popular music with selections from the Top 40, rock, soul, latin and swing charts, past and present. He once did a set with Jimmy Buffett on stage at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia.
But don't be fooled by the musical claim to fame -- Dr. Valenti, who has been with Cardiovascular Specialists since completing his cardiology fellowship in 1983, is a dedicated clinical cardiologist with a thoughtful, thorough approach to his patients' care, and has special interests in echocardiography and vascular ultrasound. He was pictured on the cover of the November 1999 issue of Baltimore magazine and recognized as one of its 15 Top Cardiologists.
The Maryland native and his wife, also a cardiologist, have two adult daughters. With the kids out of the house, he now has time to pursue a new interest -- ballroom dancing -- and has won a number of national competitions with his wife.
